New Segment: Comic Books/ Graphic Novel reviews. Teen Titans: A Kids Game

This is a new segment and it's something I've wanted to try out for a while. If you had not already guessed I am a HUGE comic book nerd/fan. I love reading and drawing comic books. I've been following a large range of comic books titles for about 4 years now and have collected a large number of them.

I wanted to start off this new segments of posts with a review of the first trade that I bought years ago - Teen Titans "A Kids Game", written by Geoff Johns and art by Mike Mckone and Tom Grummett.
I became a huge fan of the Teen Titans thanks to the TV show that aired on Cartoon Network a few years ago so I wanted to start reading the comics. This story is the start of the coming together of the New Team of Titans.  Its starts by introducing the reader to the potential new members of this team, Superboy ( Conner Kent), Robin (Tim Drake), Wonder Girl  (Cassie Sandmark ) and  Impluse/Kid Flash ( Bart Allen). It also introduces them to Titans of old, Cyborg, Starfire and Beast Boy, who are bringing this team back together to mentor and train these young heroes to be a new Titans team. Geoff Johns leads this new team of teenage heroes on their first mission to save the people of San Francisco from a huge explosion caused by an old enemy of the Titans. This adds an interesting and unexpected twist to the story for this new team. This trade was a great starting point for me to get into the backstory of the Teen Titans and also inspired me to continue to find the other TT trades.  Its full of action and fun and I particularly liked how the story allowed the team to develop, both individually and as a new family. There is also some very interesting back stories about each new member -some of which are quite dark. I liked the Superboy one as he tries so hard to prove to Superman that he is capable of fulfilling his 'secret' identity role and his roles as a Super hero and as a member of the Teen Titans. This is a fantastic junping on point if you have never read Teen Titans before. Highly recommended.
